Can the driver dump the mulch in a spot that is not in the driveway? (Lawn/backyard/etc)
Our drivers will try their best to accommodate your request! Our trucks are very heavy and leave quite a big of damage on lawns with deep ruts. We recommend having it dumped on a hard surface. There is no guarantee our driver will be able to accommodate your request.
Do I need to be home for delivery?
Absolutely not! We can take payment over the phone or you can leave check/cash in a hidden spot at your house! We can take your delivery instructions over the phone or you can leave something out as an indicator for the driver! (Lawn chair/cone/etc)
I already have existing mulch beds how mulch do you recommend I put on top to freshen the color or enhance?
Top-dressing should occur every other year! We recommend 1.5 inches for top dressing to keep things looking fresh. Fresh mulch will settle over time down to about one inch with the wind and rain.
Will it leave a stain in my driveway?
Natural mulch will not stain your driveway! It will leave a dark moisture spot where the pile has sat and will clear up with some sun. Dyed mulch can leave a stain on your driveway that will last depending on sun and rain. We do recommend if you want to avoid a mulch stain that you lay out a tarp with some rocks or other heavy objects on the corners for the truck to dump on. This will also take the guesswork out of where you would like the driver to dump!
Will the mulch fade/how long does it last?
ALL mulch will face and decompose over time, this is its purpose! As it decomposes it provides nutrients to your plants and flowers. Mulch coloration should last 1-2 years depending on sunlight and other factors. It is recommended you top-dress your beds with 1-1.5 inches of mulch every other year.
How much mulch do I need?
Mulch is sold by the cubic yard! We have a super handy mulch calculator on the ordering page of our website. If you would like we can also help you calculate how much is needed based on your measurements! We just need to know the length, width and how many inches thick you would like!
How thick should I put down mulch if it is a brand new bed?
Brand new mulch beds should be installed with 3 inches of your favorite type of mulch. Settling will occur with wind and rain. You can expect ½ inch to ¾ of settling to occur.
What should I put under the mulch? Do I need fabric or what do you recommend?
We absolutely recommend a high quality landscape fabric under your mulch! We sell a professional grade 3.5oz landscape fabric that ALL of our contractors swear by! This product will allow for water penetration while keeping those weeds at bay. Our driver can bring a roll or your choosing with him to your delivery! Don’t forget the staples!
I'm not sure I've ordered in the past. Can you look it up?
Of course! If you have ordered mulch with us in the past, we keep records of all past orders. If you haven’t ordered mulch from us yet we will keep your order information for next time 🙂
Can you split deliveries with a neighbor?
Yes! As long as the same type of mulch is ordered for both deliveries and the second drop site is nearby that is no problem. There is a fee of $15 for the extra time and process that it takes. The truck does not have a divider, the dump will be an approximation- our drivers are very experienced and can get pretty close.
